Steel Wire Reinforced Fiberglass Cloth: Installation Guidelines

Feb 20, 2026

How to Install Steel Wire Reinforced Fiberglass Cloth

1.Substrate Pre-Treatment – Ensuring Solid Bonding

Before installation, the substrate surface must be thoroughly prepared. Remove all contaminants such as oil, dust, and rust to ensure a clean and dry substrate. Any defects such as protrusions or cracks should be leveled and repaired in advance to avoid affecting adhesion. For damp substrates, drying treatment is required to prevent residual moisture from causing blistering or detachment later. Proper preparation creates optimal conditions for strong bonding and ensures structural stability after installation.

2.Environmental Control – Minimizing Adverse Conditions

Installation should be carried out under suitable environmental conditions. Avoid working in damp, rainy, snowy, or windy weather to prevent moisture ingress or dust accumulation from compromising adhesion. Extreme high or low temperatures should also be avoided, as they may affect adhesive performance and bonding quality. Ensure good ventilation in the work area to reduce dust and debris interference, providing a stable environment for smooth and efficient installation.

3.Standardized Operation – Ensuring Installation Quality

When cutting the material, measure accurately according to the application requirements to minimize waste and ensure proper fit. Cut edges should be neat to prevent fraying that could affect bonding. During laying, keep the material flat and smooth, avoiding wrinkles or air pockets. Press firmly with dedicated tools to ensure tight adhesion to the substrate. If splicing is necessary, ensure overlaps are tight and seamless to maintain protective or reinforcing effectiveness. Handle the material gently throughout to avoid damaging its structure.

4.Post-Installation Maintenance – Extending Service Performance

After installation, allow sufficient curing time for the adhesive to fully set before putting the material into service. Premature loading may cause bonding failure. During the curing period, protect the material from water, oil, corrosive substances, and other potentially damaging elements. Regularly inspect the material in use, and promptly repair any localized damage or loosening. Avoid sharp impacts or scratches, and implement routine protective measures to extend the material's service life and performance.
